So we can keep the ladies happy at the reunion we are thinking of running a Gallery of young lovers.

An example of what we mean is above, young Zac and Kaye, and don't they make a wonderful couple.

Christmas day 2009

Christmas day in Caloundra was as good as you can get it. The weather was great so we decided to spend the morning out on the water. We did take the fishing rods but they were of little use in any way other then help to waste some time. No fish in other words.

However it was relaxing just laying in the sun getting sun burnt. We spent about four hours out there before returning the Bellvista and having a swim in our mate place,Les who is away on holidays in Melbourne

Grand final

It was a good grand final not a great one. I think Melbourne had the game in control the whole time and were more hungry for the win. We had a BBQ next door at Paul's place, in fact we had bangers and mash with muchie peas. It was a great night with great company. I will just have to hope my team (West Tigers) can make it to a grand final. Congrats to Melbourne they were the most consistent team all year

Stanthorpe Weekend

We had a great visit to Stanthorpe last weekend. We went up to visit an old friend who was spending some time there with their daughter who just had her first child. The weather could not have been better. We were able to get around to some of the wineries and spent Saturday night at the local RSL.

Visit back to Aratula

Angela and I spent a great weekend back at our old Neighbourhood of Aratula. Aratula is a small township west of Ipswich near Boonah. It's the last small town before you climb the mountains to Cunningham's Gap.

We stayed with our old neighbours Merv and Gail Yomans. Friday afternoon merv and I had a few home brews while the two girls sat and had a few wines and caught up on all the latest news.

Gail's garden is looking great as you can see by the photos.

Saturday Merv took me into Boonah and out to Lake Moograh. The Lake is over 50% full and looks a treat. the camp ground was full of water skiers and fisherman. To two girls went to some Quilt thingy.

Saturday night we went to tea at the Kalbar Hotel, they have just spent a million dollars on the place doing it up and looks pretty good. The meal was great, Gail won a $186.00 on the pokies and we had a great nigWe left mid morning on Sunday and had a slow drive back home via the inland road through Kilcoy. All in all a great Weekend.

Bellvista Home Brew Appreciation Society

I am happy to say we had our presentation of shirts of the new Bellvista Home Brew Apprreciation Society last night. What a great night it was. We tried all the new brews that were ready at the time. Angela and Linda watched on as guests of the Society. Just can't wait for the next meeting (to be advised). I have an Australian Pale Ale on the go at the moment, it should be ready to bottle by the time I get back from Donnybrook.

Spirit of Tibet

Monday night we went out to a small restaurant called the Spirit of Tibet. Just a small group, my mates Les and Paul and the wives, friend of Les, Betty and not forgetting Angela.
The meal was great and you were able to bring your own drink. The whole night only cost $50 a double. The next morning I had a bit of bum burn, but that's par for the course for me when I eat any sort of curry. It won't be the last time we go there.
We are having a concrete slab installed on Friday, this will take the place of the stones and tidy our outside area up.
Friday will see me off to Donnybrook for the weekend for Vietnam Veterans day. Just a few beers with the boys and a chat about old times. Take Care.

My New Turntable

At last, with the help of my mate Les Thomas, I am now able to copy all my old 33's to my computer and then convert them to MP3 format. Now I am able to play all my old music where ever I like. I am able to copy to memory stick and play the music through the whole house. What a great idea, to think I nearly through all my old records out. Long live the Beatles.

A good joke

A guy charged into a bank today wearing a balaclava and wielding a gun.He made people lie down while he stuffed money into his bag.As he tried to leave one brave guy ran at him, failed to overpower him, but did pull his balaclava off. The robber shot him.
He then shouted 'did anyone else see my face' most people looked down at the floor but one guy looked at him, so the robber shot him as well.
He then shouted 'did anyone else see my face' and after a short silence a voice was heard from a far corner 'I think my missus got a glimpse.... "

On my post below I mentioned I was taking Angela down to the quilt show in Caloundra to view the quilts in display. Out of all the quilts (over 150) Angela's was voted as the viewers choice. She won a fine certificate and $150.00 and you can't get the smile of her face. It was a narrow win by only one vote from

Debbie Norton. Debbie's quilt can be seen on the left. The quilt show was a great success with over 1500 people coming through the doors. Sales were up on the last show (two years ago) and it is hoped it will get even bigger and better.

All Angela's friends know by now, she could not wait to get home and start the ring around. It's the best I have seen her since she broke the bone in her foot.

Caloundra Quilt Show

After the computer club I had the honour of taking Angela down to the Caloundra Quilters to view some of the wonderful quilts on display. On the left you can see Angela sitting proudly beside one of the quilts she placed on show. There were hundreds of quilts on display so it will be hard to find one that stands out from the rest.This quilt is called "peaches and cream" and took 18 months to complete. The photo on the right is another one of Angela's quilts.

Angela's quilt is on the left of her, the one on the right was made by my sister Cathy Allwright. All and all is was a great day and you can appreciate all the work the ladies put into their work, they must be very proud.

Donnybrook trip on again for Vietnam Veterans Day

We are off again to Donnybrook for Vietnam Veterans Weekend. We hope to have a few more then last year. Last year I ended up with the flu and was confine to bed for a few days. That the weekend 15 & 16 of August. More to follow has it comes available.

You just can't keep a good woman down

Angela may have a broken foot but you can't keep her out of the shops. I pushed her through the markets and she still managed to find a dress shop to look through. If I had my foot in plaster the last thing you I would want to do is shop. Never mind, that's why we love them so much.

Reunion Dinner

The boys at the reunion dinner at Yarrawonga. The photo was taken at the start of the night so we all look quite good. The meal was great and the beer even better. By the end of the night not one of us had a tie, who knows where they got to.

Broken foot

Poor Angela, she slipped on her way to woolies and broke a bone in her foot. Here you can see her putting a garbage bag on her foot to have a shower. The cast has to stay on for three weeks. Keep the chin up Angela

Donnybrook weekend

What a great weekend we had up at Donnybrook. The weather could not have been better, it's hard to believe it's winter. It was Adrian's first time there in his new camper. That's Adrian on the left of Blanchie,(below) Blanchie is the big one.
Friday night was spent having a few beers and just catching up and watching the football. Saturday we kicked back and enjoyed the company of the locals and watching the bowls. We don't play the game but it's fun to sit and make out you know what's is going on. That night we had fun singing with the band and having a few more beers.
As you can see by the photo on the left the camp site is nice and green just behind the bowling club. We are very lucky to be able to use the site as the club allows us to camp there without cost.
Our next trip will be on the weekend of Vietnam Veterans Day. We may get a few more Veterans up there for the day.

Anniversary in Montville

Angela and I Sunday and Monday up at Montville in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. I rained most of the time however that didn't detract from the weekend. It was our 40 wedding anniversary so the rainy days just made it a bit more romantic. We spent the night at a motel called the "Clouds" and that was just about all you could see was clouds. All the meals we had up there were great. The shopping was good but we didn't spent that much.

Next weekend will be a little different however, off to Donnybrook with some of my veteran mate to knock back some beers and catch up a littil.

Donnybrook trip on again

It's been some time since we have been to Donnybrook, however the weekend of the 4th. and 5th. of July will see us back there. There are a few of us going this time , we may need to put up two tents. You can bet the bowling club will be happy, their takings will be up and their stock down. I will be taking some of my home brew to see if I can swing a few of the hard liners over to home brew.
I will post photos of the trip on our return.

It's great to be a Queenslander

The first state of origin football match was played last night, and what a great night of football we had(if you are a Queenslander). Will they ever learn, it looks like we are well on the way to making it four years in a row. We also had a great meal before the match provided by Paul and Linder. My mate Les and his wife Trish came over but being from Victoria were a bit at sea with our code but enjoyed the food and drink. The next game is in two weeks and I hope it will be as good.
